Partial discharge (PD) in any electrical equipment is a threat that can cause deterioration in the insulation. Thus, frequent diagnostic must be done to avoid breakdown by using accurate measuring sensors. In this thesis, Rogowski Coil (RC) is used as measuring sensor of PD. RC sensor within 10 MHz range of frequency is developed and experiment has been conducted to determine the effect of resistive components on PD detection signal of RC termination. PD waveform without and with terminating resistance, Rt connected across the RC terminal is measured. Input PD signal generated by pulse generator is passed through the center of RC and the measurement is made by using oscilloscope. Termination of RC is done to minimize the oscillation waveform produced as well as to obtain signal that is similar to PD signal. However, it is a bit challenging to extract the same pulse as PD from the termination process of RC unless suitable Rt is determined. From the experiment, it is investigated that RC with Rt = 330 Ω produce less oscillation compared to without Rt. The oscillation becomes almost zero when calculated Rt which is Rt = 150 Ω is used. These conditions prove that resistive components of the coil can provide more reliable sensor of RC.en_US
