dc.description.abstract | Beam steering network is widely used in mobile communication application due to low cost, small size and easy to fabricate. Nowadays, compact sized of antennas with planar structure have become very common. Therefore, the antennas with steerable radiation patterns and enhanced gain are being designed and become very popular in the field of antenna propagation. Beam steering technique helps to improve SNR, reduce interference, increase gain and save power of the microstrip antenna. To produce an antenna system with multi beams, equal power with different phase angle should be fed into the system. A 3dB branch line coupler was designed as the feeding component of the array antenna. By connecting the output ports of the branch line coupler to the array antenna, a beam steering array antenna is produced. From simulation results, Port 2 shows amplitude of -3.603dB and Port 3 shows amplitude of -3.576dB when Port 1 is excited. The output ports show phase difference of 89.786° which is very close to 90°. With these results, it can be concluded that the design of this branch line coupler with operating frequency of 6GHz is very effective by using the proposed methodology. However, the results of PCB show that Port 2 having amplitude of -9.106dB at 5.83GHz and Port 3 having amplitude of -5.405dB at 5.82GHz. The phase difference between these two output ports at 6GHz is 93.205°. | en_US |
