Abstract
Natural ventilation is the intentional flow of outdoor air through an enclosure under the influence of wind and thermal pressures through controllable openings. It can effectively control both temperature and contaminants, particularly in mild climates. Temperature control by natural ventilation is often the only means of providing cooling when mechanical air-conditioning is not available. The arrangement, location, and control of ventilation openings should combine the driving forces of wind and temperature to achieve desired ventilation rate and good distribution of fresh air through the building. In this study, experiments were conducted to study the effects of air movement on the Indoor environment climatic, as well as the level of thermal comfort for the occupants in the building International Students House (ISH), depending on the parameters mentioned in the previous paragraph (location and openings). The study was conducted in two ways to collect data, where the methodology was based on the difference of environmental parameters (Temperature, Relative Humidity and Air Velocity) between indoor and outdoor climate, also between both wings of the building. The study found that the internal environment more heat from the external environment, especially in the evening, where up the difference in temperatures to around 2.3°C, and the difference in temperature between the wings around O.6JOC, While relative humidity did not differ significantly. The difference in the velocities of air movement in the case of (door opening) of rooms, it was clear, it sometimes hit rate 2.5m/s - 4m/s in the upper floors of the building, while in the case of (door closed) about O.Om/s - 1 mIs, approximately in the overall of the building. Therefore, it was conclusion of this study is the recommendation to create openings opposite to improve air circulation inside the building, both in the corridors and inside rooms, which helps to improve the climatic conditions as well as internal air quality of the living environment for the occupants, to avoid any environmental hazard could negatively affect on their thermal comfort of living.
