Studies regarding methods and parameters of prayer time calculation in the field of astronomy is important, and it was conducted continously. Collecting data on the position of the sun in this study is important and makes an important reference in the future. This study aims to review the Penang prayer calendar issued by Penang State Mufti Department in order to meet the requirements of Islamic texts. The study was conducted at Syeikh Tahir Astronomy Centre, Penang for Zuhr, 'Asr, Maghrib and 'Isha' prayers. For Sub}J, studies conducted in two selected locations in Merang Beach, Terengganu and Pantai Cahaya Bulan, Kelantan. The study also supported by various of measurement tools such as theodolite for the istiwa' shadow measurements and the refraction studies and the use of 'sky quality meter' for the study of sky brightness. The study for the year of 2010 concluded that there is no significant difference between the Zuhr and Asr time that is displayed at state calendar with the results of measurements carried out shadows. The study also found that the maximum refractive value recorded was 32' arc minute, which is smaller than the current practice, 34' arc minute. The study also found that the sky was dark after sunset with no effect from sunlight at the sun position between -17.3" to -19.2". While the impact occurred at the dawn between -17.6" to -19.6". The study found that there is no significant difference between the results of two sky brightness, hich is after sunset and before sunrise.en_US
