Abstract
Internationalization, particularly Internationalization at Home (IaH) is of
increasing interest in many universities worldwide and considered as a strategic priority
to respond to the challenges of globalization. IaH offers international and global
perspectives through formal and informal learning to all students which transforms them
as global citizens. Despite the fact that 64% of European universities involved in IaH,
there is an inadequacy regarding the institutionalization of the concept in developing
countries such as Malaysia. A scarcity of research is evident regarding IaH from the
the present study examined the relevance of IaH in the
context of Malaysian research universities and how IaH can enhance global citizenship
among students. The present study also investigates the relationship of key predictors of
intercultural competence such as attitude, knowledge and comprehension, skills, and
cultural sensitivity with IaH among the domestic students. In addition, the study examined
how English language proficiency moderates the relationship between attitude,
knowledge and comprehension, skills, cultural sensitivity, and IaH. Moreover, the present
study investigates the moderating effect of perceived institutional support on the
relationship between IaH and global citizenship.
