dc.description.abstract | As individuals differ in their physical and psychological make-up so do institutions of learning differ in their physical structures, objectives, sets of courses, lecturers, books, tests, rules and regulations and the attitudes of their members. However any institution worthy of its name, will have a character of its ow. a persdnality which makes it more than just an assemblage of object. attitudes and attributes. This characteristic atmosphere makes it different from other environments and though eluding attempts to de: it accurately, nevertheless, exerts an influence on and may even act a powerful developing force upon all who study and live in it. This study is an attempt to examine the environment of a teachers college in Penang. It is the contention of the writer that significant personality development continues to occur during the years in college and that differences in both the formal and informal aspects of the environment make for differential impact on the students. Using the College and University Environment Scales (CUES) developed by C.R.I the study has attempted to compare the perceptions of the different groups of people within the environment as well as the general enviroment of the college as perceived by the students to the perceived environments of'other institutions of learning. | en_US |
