The first objective of this study is to examine the readiness of the corporate party in allocating one percent from the sales outcome for the activities related to corporate social responsibilities. Secondly, it seeks to recognize the methods of management and administration connected with social responsibilities. Thirdly, to identify the types of community sustenance programmes conductable, to make certain of the well-being of the local community. The fourth objective lies in knowing the perception of the local people towards the corporate existence and social responsibility practices. The fifth reason for this research is to recognise if all the activities and community sustenance programmes have been performed professionally. 39 villages have been identified to serve as the subjects for this research. Discussion among target groups have also been carried out which has involved 217 village chiefs together with 585 of the community members. At the same time, 4 respondents from the corporate groups, foundations and independent teams are also included in this research. The findings of this research have led to some discoveries: First of all, PT. Toba Pulp Lestari is ready to provide some budget by allocating one percent from the corporate net sales. Secondly, some problems seem to have surfaced and which need to be given due attention in the financial system and in its performance. Thirdly, social responsibility programme practice is yet to be rendered effective and has not really been successful in enhancing the wellbeing of the local communities. Fourthly, the majority of the local people have been found to be disappointed and this may have led to them not supporting the existence of PT. Toba Pulp Lestari. The fifth discovery suggests that the corporate social responsibility practice has not been professionally conducted. As an overall view, the findings of this research propose that the corporate needs to introduce a suitable model in performing the responsibilities of the social corporate for the benefits of the local communities.
