dc.description.abstractThis study aims to review the housing development undertaken in the city to find out the problem and its ability to meet the actual occupant comfort and satisfaction based on sustainable design elements. The literature review has identified several factors in comfort and satisfaction of the residents of the housing. For this study, the design elements of traditional Malay house is referred to as the basic elements of sustainable design. These factors make the identified housing satisfaction is a measure of space, the amount of space, space layout, lighting, ventilation and home design elements. Questionnaires are used as the main technique to obtain information about the level of comfort and satisfaction of the respondents in the three study areas of Perumahan Fasa 4B Precint 8 Putrajaya, Perumahan Mutiara Idaman Jelutong, Pulau Pinang and Perumahan Bandar Universiti Seri Iskandar, Perak. The analysis led to the discovery of the problems of modem house design from various aspects which include the size of the room, providing the main space is limited, indoor house layout, lighting and ventilation are limited, and the design is less efficient. Therefore, the proposed implementation and concept design elements of a traditional Malay house with potential proposed layout includes the housing layout concept, internal layout concept, housing design, open space and floor building concept.en_US
