| dc.description.abstract | An evaluation of landscaping at heritage buildings in Alor Setar, Kedah Darul Aman is done to evaluate and regonise all the landscape elements that still exist till today, compare to it's existence when Kota Setar were officially opened as an administration centre on Nisfu 15 Syakban 1148 or December 15, 1735 by Sultan Muhammad Jiwa Zainal Adilin Muadzam Syah. Alor Setar also had been listed as one of the oldest city in Malaysia and now ageing more than 250 years. The rearrangement of the entire state on 1st August 1975 by the State Government had caused the area of the KotaSetar broaden to 666km2 • Architectures elements that still exists on this heritage buildings in Alor Setar, are still in a good condition because of the conservation and preservation from the state. This research about the heritage buildings (Balai Besar, Istana Pelamin, Masjid Zahir, Balai Nobat and Balai Seni) will also include about their history and function before and nowadays. The purpose of the research is also to explore some of the landscape in this area that have been vanished. Lack of information about the landscape elements that have been wrote by the writers at that time, maybe because of the unstable situation at that time either in economy, social or politics, causing the information that was received today are a little bit limited. Some of the information are also been passed from one generation to the other in an oral way. The change of the years also causing many of the individual that had an information about the history and lived on the glorious years of Kota Setar already passed away. These major problems causes all the comparission was made based on the classic literatures, observations and discussions with those who are well verse about the history of the landscaping at the chosen area and also about the heritage building. However, the landscaping elements that exists nowaday are ignoring the unique and beautiful garden that existed before. This research are also covering the history of the old cities before Kota Setar which also role as an administration centre for Kedah Darul Aman. | en_US |
