Abstract
The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) is one of the Environmental Management Practices (EMPs) projects that offer developing countries an opportunity to attract investment in clean energy technologies and promote sustainable development. The mechanism is expected to benefit economically, environmentally and socially, which means it will help to achieve the sustainable development agenda. This thesis synthesis the state of knowledge on the factors influencing EMPs towards CDM implementation in Malaysia and how the antecedents influence the CDM implementation. The objective of this research is to examine the Malaysian context in energy, agriculture and forestry sectors in terms of determining the factors influencing EMPs towards CDM implementation in Malaysia and investigate whether business networking is the moderator. Data collected from a review of the previous literature and related government documents is the source for further exploration for data analysis and will constitute the basis of the solution presented in this research. To achieve these objectives, this study selected the institutional theory as the theoretical basis to explicate the proposed hypotheses. Finally, this study provides recommendations and suggestions on further studies on how Malaysia can create synergies to create the paradigm shift among EMPs towards the green environment and sustainable development objectives.
