| dc.description.abstract | Warehouse inventory management department play an important to transport and deliver inventories from one factory to another, from warehouse to market or to others department. A systematic and efficient method of managing this warehouse is compulsory so that the products are stored and delivered correctly and efficiently. However, the respective management department faces difficulty to maintain the storing and retrieving operation by purely men power. Most of the warehouse items are large in size. In the conventional method, a group of man workers are required to manhandle the warehouse items. Moreover, heavy items are not durable and may inflict hazards to the fellow workers if improperly handled. Misplacing of the warehouse item to be stored is the common problem occurring in the factory due to human error. This will cause a difficulty to track back the material especially in large warehouse. The use of an automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) will minimize and reduce the error in warehouse management system. ASRS is an automated system which automates the storing and retrieving of the warehouse items whereby the human operator only needs to key-in the location of the storage cell which contains the item using a human-machine interface. Such automation solution will certainly add the convenience to the fellow workers giving them the sense of assured safety as now the machine does the heavy lifting job. The fellow workers can focus on a more important task which require critical decision making. It reduces the labour cost in the long term and it improves the whole production efficiency since the storing and retrieving are automated. | en_US |
