dc.description.abstract | Standardization of plant materials is the most important aspect ·in quality control of traditional medicine. Quality control tests of the plant materials include identification tests, determination of extractive values, water content, ash and acid insoluble ash, assay of active ingredient and detection of heavy metals contamination. Thirteen plants that have been ·chosen for this study are Acorus calamus, Areca catechu, Cent ella asiatica, Coscinium :blumeanum, Curcuma aeruginosa, curcuma xanthorrhiza, Labisia pothoina, Myristida fragrans, Orthosiphon stam.ineus, Tinospora crispa, Zingiber cassumunar, Zingiber officinale dan Zingiber ottensii. Identification of plant by using their chemical constituents as a marker compound can be done by simple thin layer chromatography. Zingiber cassumunar can be detected from a mixture of 17 plant by using this technique. Three marker compounds namely (Z)-1-(3,4- dimethoxyphenyl) trimethoxyphenyl) butadiene, (Z)-1-(2,4,5- butadiene and terpinen-4-ol from Zingiber cassumunar have been isolated· and identified spectroscopically. | en_US |
