Abstract
Landscaping is regarded as an important component in preserving
the environment apart from its aesthetic value. The Local Municipal Councils
in every State in Malaysia has been entrusted in assuring proper landscape
works being carried effectively. Apart from that private sectors who are
involve in landscape work, has a responsibility in ensuring quality work done.
However the actual situation is not quiet the same. for there seems to be
various problem in the organisation and administration of landscape works
by the Local Municipal Councils generally.
This research is intended to explore the level of landscape works
being managed by the Local Municipal Councils and to justify the quality of
the Landscape Guidelines that being currently used.
It has been found that the Landscape Guidelines, issued by various
Local Municipal Counci lacks substantial information. The lack of qualified
personals in to administer and manage the Landscape Department has lead
to the present situation. Most of the Private Firms involve in landscape works
find that the Landscape Guideline issued by the Local Municipal Council
lacks vital information and therefore not suitable to be used.
In brief, the findings of this research can be concluded that there is an
urgent need to restructure the administration and management of the Local
Municipal Council's Landscape Department to ensure quality landscape
work is being carried out effectively.
