dc.description.abstractTafsir Nur al-Ihsan is a masterwork in the Quranic exegesis written by Syeikh Muhammad Sa‟id bin Umar. This work has been used as a reference by the community in order to understand the meaning of the Quran. However, the work has been criticized by the community due to the lack of sources in construing the Quran‟s verses. This causes a misleading on the validity of the interpretations made. Therefore, the main objectives of this research are to study and identify the original sources used by the author, besides examine how the sources are taken. The genetic approach is used while analysing the original sources of this work. In order to complete this research, the work of Tafsir Nur al-Ihsan and the original sources have been compared to identify all the similarities and differences between them. As a result, there are eleven sources that have been refered by Syeikh Muhammad Sa‟id which are Tafsir al-Jalalyn, Tafsir al-Jamal, Tafsir al-Baydawi, Tafsir al-Khazin, Tafsir al-Baghawi, Tafsir al-Tabari, Tafsir al-Qurtubi, Tafsir al-Razi, Tafsir al-Nasafi, Tafsir Ibn Kathir, and Tafsir al-Thalabi. This study is significant as it can prove the authorization of Tafsir Nur al-Ihsan, thus to avoid the community‟s doubt towards the work.en_US
