Abstract
A photovoltaic (PV) panel produces electrical energy directly from the light energy conversion. However, its efficiency is rather low and the implementation of Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) techniques can achieved a greater efficiency in the PV module. This study presents the modelling and simulation of MPPT algorithm which used the adaptive perturb and observe-fuzzy logic control (P&O-FLC) method with different membership functions. MATLAB/Simulink was used for simulation studies. The boost dc-dc converter was built in all the simulation where the pulse width modulation (PWM) is regulated according to the duty cycle from the MPPT algorithm. The complete standalone PV system consists of perturb and observe (P&O), adaptive P&O-FLC with 4, 5 and 7 membership functions. The different membership functions were used to test and investigate the comparison and effectiveness of the proposed MPPT algorithm in a PV system. As a result, this project will investigate the which levels of membership functions has the highest performance in the adaptive P&O-FLC MPPT algorithm in PV system.
