| dc.description.abstract | The thesis \vill discuss on the Ja\'vi script which is brought by the Muslims to Indonesia and the Malay world especially in Northern Sumatera. The regional of Islam has brought a lot of change and development, in terms of civilization as well as knowledge. The discovery of the Ja\vi script has brought about the innovation in education and literature. When it is successfully used, the Jawi script is the only literary work which is widely applied in each and every aspect of life. The knowledge and domination in Ja,vi script have encouraged the society to produce a lot of manuscripts, books and others. The Jawi script has developed the knowledge and Islamic civilization in Indonesia and the Malay world, as well as Europe and the western countries. The usage of the Jawi script has come to the ending of its successful period when the western colonist brought in the Roman script to Indonesia and the other Malay world. The arrival of the western colonist, is not only to grasp the local Malay society in terms of their physical and mental aspects but aiso in fertns of their religion and culture. In the end, when the intluence of the Roman script has expanded, the position and usage of the Jav.:i script has weakened and finally , its \'vide usage has come to an end. in order to revive the usage of the Jaw·i script, apparent. earnest and continuous actions should be carried out by the agencies involved. One of the effective ways is through education which is supported by its excellent and accurate system and curriculum. Therefore, to conclude this thesis, it is suggested that a new Jawi script system, Jawi transliteration system and Jawi script curriculum for the primary and the secondary schools be implemented. | en_US |
