dc.description.abstract	This is a semantic study on the formation of verbs in Malay. The formation of verbs has been selected because this class of words is considered to form an important part of the construction of sentences in Malay. Owing to the fact that it is an important element of a sentence, is it very widely used by Malay speakers in speaking and writing. It is considered to be complex because of the large number of word formations produced with diverse meanings. Therefore, errors and mistakes ~n the use of verbs often occur. This study utilises written and oral ·materials as data for analysis. The formation of Derivative Verbs, the menaning of Verb affixations and the function of the Transitive Verbs +kan, +i and pe+ in sentences are discussed.	en_US
