Quality of leadership is one of the most important factors that determine the success and survival of groups and organizations. Although technologies play an overriding role in certain conditions, effective leadership has often compensated for the lack of equipment and resources. A world without leaders is difficult to imagine. Improving leadership quality in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia requires identifying key factors affecting leadership styles and developing more effective managers or leaders. However, organizational and company leadership in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia requires managers to have superior understanding of leadership and to use it to their advantage. This study adopts the unique perspective of leaders in determining the key factors for developing the concept of leadership in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and analyzes how these factors contribute to the success of construction companies. A postal questionnaire survey was conducted to achieve the main aim of this research. Questionnaires were mailed to 155 construction companies in Jeddah city between September and October 2012. Only 139 questionnaires were returned. The respondents were managers, directors, executives, and non-executives. Among the 139 respondents who completed the study, 1 was excluded because of incomplete response. The response rate was 89 percent, with responses from 138 participants included in the analysis.en_US
