Abstract
Nowadays, the increase of the rate population in the cities encourages the growth of technology in many fields such as automatic system. The smart Aquaponics system is integrated between aquaculture system (rearing the fish) and hydroponics system (cultivating the plant in a nutrient soil) in a symbiotic environment. The first objective of the system is to design a smart monitoring system and control device for the smart Aquaponics system, which is an eco-friendly system for ornamental fish and hydroponic plants. The second objective is to implement the Nutrient Film Technique for the medium grow of the plant. The third objective is to develop a mobile application and web server that can monitor online and also obtain real-time data from the system. In this project, there is four states of the monitoring system which can be monitored by implementing the internet of things (IoT) such as temperature and humidity sensor and it will display the reading of the temperature and humidity in LCD display. Next, the soil moisture sensor as a function to measure the soil moisture and the output will be displayed by the 7-segment display. The ultrasonic ranging sensor is used to measure the level of water and the output will be displayed by three different color of LEDs as indicator of the level of water. The internet of things (IoT) is a technology in which it is used to enable interconnection between the devices and internet. It will help the user to monitor online the condition of the system through the mobile apps (Virtuino) and web server (ThingSpeak). The aquaculture system is the important part in rearing the fish in the aquarium tank. The relay is used as a switch for the water pump to operate in noncontinuous system. This system depends on the reading of soil moisture sensor. For the hydroponics system, the system is tested by planting three types of plant such as mustard, water spinach and gai lan (Chinese broccoli). The base of hydroponics system is built from polyvinyl chloride pipe (PVC) to place the channel. There are three channels where it places on the hydroponics base, which mean the level have three floors that connected to each other. Each channel will have three holes as a placed to put the plastic pots in there. As a result, an effective and reliable smart aquaponics system has been successfully built.
