Abstract
The purpose of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of Life Skills subject at Special
Education Integrated Programme of Learning Disabilities in state of Kelantan. The study has
been conducted in 6 secondary school. This study aims to achieve all its four objectives. First
objective is to study whether the curriculum objective and content of Life Skills subject was
relevant for Special Education in Learning Problems students. Secondly, to evaluate whether
School Special Education Committee play roles in curriculum managements. Thirdly objective is
to see the relationship between teacher qualification and the qualities of teaching process in Life
Skills subject for Special Education in Learning Problems Students. Forth objective is to evaluate
the learning performance of Special Education in Learning Problems students in the Life Skills
subject. In order to achieve all the objectives, questionnaire has been distributed to the 40 special
education teachers who was teaching Life Skills subject at 6 Special Education Integrated
Programme of Learning Disabilities in Kelantan as a respondents. All the data that obtained
from the questionnaire has been analyzed into frequency, percentage and mean score by using
Microsoft Excel 2007. The first objective of this research data analysis shows the percentages
score for input dimension is 73.01%, which indicate the high level and prove that the
respondents argued that Life Skills curriculum was relevant for Special Education in Learning
Problems Students. While in others dimension using CIPP evaluation model framework
Stufflebeam (1971), indicate the middle level such as input (51.76%), Process (64.74%) and
Product (65.24%). The result of the analysis showed that there are many issues in teaching Life
Skills subject for Special Education Integrated Programme of Learning Disabilities. The majority
of Special Education's teachers were faced problems in teaching the subject, especially on areas
related to special education students perforn1ance, followed by the lack of knowledge and skill in
teaching subject on living skill, issues on physical facilities and instructional material in teaching
Living SkilJs subject. Several proposal were given to overcome problems which faced by those
teachers and Special Education School Committee in order to enhance the learning performance
of Life Skills subject for Special Education Integrated Programme of Learning Disabilities in the
near future.
