Modern Computational Fluid Dynamics modeling (CFD) are becoming common design and analysis tools in the engineering field. In contrast with the past, the use of CFD techniques involving project designs accompanying with physical scale modeling to analyze the complex flows which could not be easily analyzed by physical modeling. Specifically, the use of CFD modeling in the Hydraulic Engineering are increasing. In the future, CFD may become the most reliable tool being used for comparison with other design tools. This study aims to use CFD models to validate the simulation of the floodwater against the mobile flood barrier which are installed in the Integrated Research Space (RPS) of Engineering Campus, Universiti Sains Malaysia. For this simulation of flow to be success which involves an interaction between water and air, the Volume of Fluid (VOF) and the realizable “k – ε” turbulence numerical models have been mapped in the software. The Volume of Fluid (VOF) and the realizable “k – ε” models simulate the free surface of two-phase flow and the flow turbulence, respectively. Firstly, the study starts with the details on the actual design of the model of mobile flood wall barrier. Subsequently presents the geometry and dimensions of the physical model, the testing procedure and the experimental test results obtained from this modeling practice. For CFD modeling, ANSYS-Fluent was used, to model the physical model, the realizable “k – ε” was used. Underlying theory of CFD are discussed in this thesis. Finally, the pressure readings by numerical models are discussed through a validation process by comparing both CFD model results and the physical model results. The outcome revealed that the average difference is about 4.22%.en_US
