This study attempts to investigate the relationships between personality traits (Big Five Personality Traits) and intrinsic career success. Personality traits are measured by five characteristics: neuroticism, extroversion, openness, agreeableness and conscientiousness. Intrinsic career success contains job satisfaction, career satisfaction and life satisfaction. The possible moderating effect of gender difference is also considered in this study. 175 managers from the banks located in Beijing are given questionnaires and their responses are analyzed. Results show that two of the five personality dimensions, namely neuroticism and conscientiousness, are significantly related to job and career satisfaction. Conscientiousness is also significantly related with life satisfaction. Extroversion is only found to be significantly related with life satisfaction. The remaining two dimensions, namely; openness and agreeableness do not show any significant correlation with job, career or life satisfaction. Further investigation is carried out to ascertain the relationships between personality traits and intrinsic career success are partially moderated by gender difference.en_US
