dc.description.abstract | Yang Cheng Brand curing pills and Chew Weng Bin throat powder have been reported to contain high levels of mercury and arsenic respectively. With the aid of an atomic absorption spectrophotometer, in-vivo studies . of these Chinese medicine have been carried out whether these metals have been absorbed into the liver, brain, fats, kidney, stomach, ileum, heart and blood of rabbits. Both acute and chronic in-vivo studies indicated that there were traces of mercury (7-40 ppm) and arsenic (0.0001-0.0003 ppm). These amounts when compared with that of the controls were highly insignificant (p < 0.001). | en_US |
