dc.description.abstractThis study intends to identify the effect of health aspect towards work productivity amongst lecturers in teacher training colleges in the Peninsular of Malaysia. The research questions are designed to identify whether there are differences between the aspects of health and work productivity with the demographic variables being studied. The research respondents are 204 lecturers of mixed genders teaching in three teacher training colleges in the peninsular of Malaysia. The data of the research is collected through the use of survey. The related data to the aspect of health of the respondents is gathered through the used of SF-36 Health Survey while WPAI (Work Productivity and Activity Impairment) is used to gather the data for work productivity. The data is analyzed through regression test, t-test and ANOVA statistical test. The finding of the study shows significant effect in the physical and mental functions towards work productivity amongst lecturers in the teacher training colleges. The study also shows that male lecturers tend to better in the physical and social functions compared to their female counterparts. In terms of the mental health and the productivity level, the study indicates that there is no significant difference between lecturers of different genders. The study also indicates that lecturers who are in the group of below 40 years old tend to be better of than those who are 41 to 49 years old and also with the group who are 50 years old in the aspect of productivity and physical health. Another interesting finding in terms mental health is that lecturers who are within 41 to 49 years old tend to be better than those who are less than 40 years old and above 50 years old. Meanwhile, lecturers who are above the age of 50 years old tend to be better in terms of the social function compared to the other two groups. In conclusion, this study recommends few programs which can be carried out in the teacher training colleges for the betterment and for the improvement of lecturers’ health conditions. This will improve the productivity level of lecturers in the teacher training colleges.en_US
