Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to (i) to investigate the key business operations in the core
functional areas of UOB Kay Hian (ii) to identify the current information system adopted
by UOB Kay Hian (iii) to assess the effectiveness of the current information system
adopted in UOB Kay Hian and also the Pros and Cons of each respectively (iv) To
identify the challenges in EIS in UOB Kay Hian (iv) to propose recommendation in
improving the EIS effectiveness in UOB Kay Hian. The methodology has proposed
recommendation of I-TOP model embraces the concept of optimizing Return on Investment
(ROI) to be the champion in industry through Technological Infinite Possibilities, Outright
environmental scanning and People (Human capital development) that could be form an
organization that has worldwide efficiency that is critical for optimizing the ROI, where
economic scale of business is one of the important factors applied in real commercial settings.
This finding of the study showed certain level of inadequate of EIS adoption that may be
faced by the investment securities industry in Malaysia in relation to its key business
operations. Corresponding responses are suggested for the compliance issues associated in
different key business operations, which provide a systematic approach in managing the case
company more effectively. Conclusion drawn was enterprise information system applied in
the company’s key business operations covered from the back-office system of the daily
operational of processing which later be analyzed through the concept ITOP and VCA to
improve company’s competitive advantage and hence return on investment. The
challenges faced by the company have been identified with recommendations at the end
of study.
