| dc.description.abstract | Images of women always have been one of the major themes depicted in Persian painting along with their prominent presence in Iranian literature and poem. This research aims to analyse the representation of woman in Persian painting during the Safavid era, which marks a revolutionary period in the history of Iran. Hence the social, cultural and political situation during that period leads to significant stylistic changes in Persian art which bring about diverse representations of the female figure that are distinct from the conventional pictorial tradition of Persian painting previously. This research employs qualitative method to investigate the socio-historical and cultural backgrounds of that period in Persian painting tradition that have informed the concept of representation of women in Safavid single-page painting. | en_US |
