Nowadays, solar energy is one of the popular renewable energies that have been developed by most of the countries in the world. Photovoltaic(PV) panel is used to convert the solar energy. In PV system, it is divided to three types of system such as grid connected, standalone and hybrid system. Standalone PV system is a system that operated independently and designed to supply AC load or DC load. This study is about development and application of the standalone PV system. Also, this study will focus on implementation of the DC/DC converter. Generally, a standalone PV system will be implemented with converter or inverter based on the type of load. Step up or called as boost DC/DC converter is used because it will increase the output voltage from the PV panel. Also, the battery bank is implemented in the system. The battery bank function as to store the energy and as a back-up power supply that can be used at night or in bad weather. The energy is stored in the form of DC power. For controlling the overall system, Arduino microcontroller is used. It will control the modes of the system by interpret the signal received from sensor and transmit the signal to relay switch. MATLAB/Simulink software is used to demonstrate the simulation of the system and then the parameters such as load voltage, load current and battery voltage are recorded. In conclusion, the result of the simulation will be compared with the experimental result. The efficiency of the system is about 90%. The system was operated in real time based on the algorithm designed.en_US
