Abstract
Flood can be defined as high water flows that dominates the natural or artificial
banks in any part of the river system. The consequences of flooding may results in
losses of lives and asset. Thus giving a negative impact towards social and economic
due to high cost in recovery and reduce in investment opportunities in flood prone
area. In order to control damage caused by flooding, various devices of flood
migitation have been developed over the years. Mobile flood wall barrier (MFWB) is
one of the solution in flood mitigation. The objective of this study is to determine water
tide flood barrier due to pressure by testing it using a physical hydraulic model and to
determine the time taken for installation and effectiveness design of the mobile flood
wall barrier. The method for this study are divided into two phase which are physical
model fabrication and experimental phase. To meet the objectives this study consist of
three concept of mobile flood wall barrier named NADI1, NADI2 and NADI3 which
have different mechanism and dimension of flood barrier. Results shows that the
structure of NADI3 is the most effective and well designed to withstand flood pressure
and flood level of 1.0m. It is concluded that the designed barrier can provide the
intended purpose for flood usage while being able to have the mobility for fast
execution during emergency times.
