Abstract
In this project, a hexagonal patch antenna with modified L-Shaped slots, used for
multiband applications is proposed. FR-4 and Rogers 4003C substrate used with a dielectric
constant of 4.5 and 3.65. Modified L-shaped slot are is arranged on a patch to give resonator
effect and are been used to generate multiple bands in the antenna. The design was proposed
by Rajimohan and Hussien in 2016 IEEE paper [1] and simulation and fabrication are made to
compare with the previous research result with the new simulated result and fabrication
measurement from a different dielectric material that is available in the market. The simulated
results yield a multiband respond at the resonance frequency of 3.088 GHz, 7.952 GHz, 8.848
GHz and 10.203 GHz with the minimum reflection loss of -28.975 dB and VSWR < 2 for FR4. The Rogers 4003C substrate yield a simulated result that response at the resonance frequency
of 3.612 GHz, 12.020 GHz with the minimum reflection loss of -29.2176 dB and VSWR < 2.
The fabrication measurement offers response at resonance frequency of 3.310 GHz, 5.560
GHz, 8.050 GHz, 13.393 GHz with the minimum reflection loss result yield at -18.84 dB for
FR-4 while Rogers 4003C substrate gives a resonance frequency of 3.580 GHz, 5.830 GHz,
8.830 GHz, 10.240 GHz, 11.560 GHz with the minimum reflection loss yield at 20.72 dB.
