This is a qualitative study examining the construction of authenticity and hospitality from a gender perspective, in Homestay Pulau Aman, Penang. From literature reviews, there has been very little research conducted in the area of homestay accommodation, especially from gender perspectives and using authenticity framework. The purposes of this research are to identify roles of women in the homestay business in constructing authentic experience and hospitality services, as well as to study the challenges and strategies women homestay operators taken in mediating their roles at domestic levels while providing hospitality services and staging authentic Malay culture to tourists. Other than that, the study aims to explore the perception of tourists about the role of women in constructing authenticity and hospitality.en_US
