Abstract
It is generally known that the Malaysian Government is taking measures and actions to
ensure Malaysia as a Ralal Rub focusing on the productions and services sectors especially
those related to the Ralal food preparations services in hotels and restaurants.
Nevertheless, there are still complaints from the public which has become an issue
regarding the Ralal food preparation status in hotels seeing that not all the hotels in
Malaysia have obtained a Ralal logo certification. Therefore the main purpose for this
study is to determine the reasons influencing the hoteliers for not applying the Ralal logo
certification. Seven reasons identified are the commitment, awareness, other certifications,
hotel budget, hotel image, JAKIM procedures and targeted customers. The research was
conducted on hotels in the northern states of Malaysia i.e. Kedah, Perl is and Penang and 71
replied questionnaires have been received. Statistical analysis revealed that the major
contributors that influenced hoteliers for not applying the Ralallogo certification are due to
JAKIM Ralallogo certification procedures and the lack of awareness among the hoteliers .
From the findings, it can be concluded that proactive and aggressive measures must be
taken by the government via JAKIM in giving awareness and information about Ralallogo
certification to the hotels. Steps must be taken to restructure the Ralal procedures and
cycle time and it must be done immediately so that they will not be the barriers to the
hoteliers to obtain a Ralallogo certification.
