Abstract
In art education, students constantly question assessment and
measurement. They are curious about how lecturer evaluate their artwork.
Visitors to art exhibitions often question regarding the right and wrong doing of
artwork. What is right or wrong? Good or bad? In graphic design, most
designers are uncertain whether their artwork is good enough to convey their
visually hidden message effectively. Generally, graphic artworks are evaluated
by people who are highly skilled and experienced. Their assessment of artworks
usually depends on their experience and personal views. As far as this research
is concerned, there is very limited reference in measuring graphic design
artwork. Currently, all institutions of higher learning are being asked to take
evaluation and assessment seriously. This study is to identify a pool of
information and methods in evaluating graphic design artwork. This study aims
to determine the most effective theory and practice in artwork assessment so
that the learning process in art education can be more systematic and selfdirected.
