| dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of Jiran Muda organisation which is fonned under the jurisdiction of Rukun Tetangga in district of Taiping, Perak Darul Ridzuan, even though this program is perceived as inactive. Considering effectiveness and activeness are two different issues, it is crucial to evaluate the acceptance of young generation towards this organisation. The acceptance of young generation reflects the efficiency of Jiran Muda organisation. Variables used in this study are scale of knowledge, acceptance and perception of respondents toward community support received by this organisation. The scale of effectiveness in this study is based on the activeness measurement utilised by Department of National Unity and Integration (Jabatan Perpaduan Negara dan Integrasi National) to measure the activeness of Rukun Tetangga in the specified area. Based on this scale, the level of effectiveness in range between 50% - 100%. A sample of 418 respondents which consist of 305 members of Jiran Muda and 113 of non-members at Rukun Tetangga with such organisation have participated in this study. The findings of this research show that Jiran Muda organization is in fact effective based on the 80.9% score of general knowledge and 71 % score of specific knowledge. Whereas, the acceptance score based on the sub-scale of mission accomplished is 84.8%, internal association is 72% and participation is 78%. The score for support is 70.6%. These findings proved that the inactiveness of Jiran Muda is due to lack of support from various parties based on the lower score of this dependent variable in comparison to other variables. The value of effectiveness shows that Jiran Muda organisation can be used as a mechanism to enhance the social control for the young generation in the community. | en_US |
