Abstract
Dalam bidang penyelidikan penulisan L2, kohesi sebagai komponen teks utama penulisan akademik telah menarik perhatian terutama dalam isu penggunaan penanda wacana (DM) dalam penulisan pelajar ESL. Oleh yang demikian, penggunaan DM yang sesuai yang penting dalam elemen kohesi, mencipta kohesi dan aliran koheren teks (Li & Schmitt, 2009).
In the field of L2 writing research, cohesion, as a major textual component of academic writing has attracted much attention especially with reference to the ways of DMs’ usage in ESL learners’ writing. Hence, the proper use of DMs, which are essential cohesion elements, creates a cohesive and coherent flow of the text (Li & Schmitt, 2009).
