dc.description.abstractThermal comfort is very important in designing a building. Building services is one of the basic concept especially for a modem building. The meaning of building servicing is the air conditioning which is use to achieve thermal comfort. Research did involved two libraries building, Library I and II in University Sains Malaysia which mentioned that these building are too cool and uncomfortable. Survey forms have been given to 234 respondents to be filled up. After that all the data will be analysed and being compared with the ASHRAE thermal scale. As a result, the compatible neutral temperature is 21.9°C based on the Humphreys and Auliciems theory 23°C. Research for thermal comfort is very important in designing an economical building from the cost of manpower aspect. This thesis also included the level of usage of thermal comfort produced by foreign and local researchers. Moreover, the analysis result will be compared with the existing <;tandard in order to get the actual compatible standard. The basic principals for air conditioning also have been included in clarifYing its function. Lastly, a few recommendations have been given in order to ensure that thermal comfort application will be fully utilised.en_US
