dc.description.abstract	This research explores contractual aspects in prepanng claims for civil engineering works. The objective of the research is to study factors in preparing successful claims. The reason for this research is the existence of problems in the preparation of contractual claims which are complicated, affecting a large amount money and consensus and agreement among parties are very difficult to achieve. The research methodology is based on literature review of out standing writers on construction law and a case study of a civil engineering project which is done by an international contractor. Generally the basis in preparing a claim is that it has to be done in accordance with certain procedures. A claim has to be done based on a correct event, justified principals, true record and justified quantum and lastly it has to be presented in a clear way. Based on this research, it is found that preparation of a good claim in accordance with the procedures stated above, proves to be successful. This is due to the reason that with his adherence to the procedures, proves the contractor's right to the claim.	en_US
