Abstract
Literature review on Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) identifies a research gap on risk management from a systemic supply chain perspective, particularly in selecting the best alternative to mitigate risks in a supply chain from a practitioner’s perspective. This research investigates whether Supply Chain Risks (SCR) Determinants (Plan, Source, Make and Deliver) and Supply Chain Risks (SCR) Dimensions (Physical Risks, Informational Risks, Relational Risks and Financial Risks) influence the adoption of Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model approach (Agility, Supplier and Inventory focused approaches) by supply chain organisations and related industries. This study also investigates the moderating role of Organisation Culture (OC) between the mediating variables of SCR Dimensions and dependent variables of SCOR model approaches. The survey on 122 organisations revealed that SCR Determinants, SCR Dimensions do influence SCOR model approaches. Similarly, OC is a moderator between SCR Dimensions and SCOR model approaches. The findings imply that for Supply Chain organisations adopting SCOR model, the SCR Determinants and SCR Dimensions are important to be considered. Organisation in general should not overlook the importance of risk mitigation in their organisation and to drive towards continuous improvement as supply chain operating environment is dynamic. This research study is important as it allows organisations to assess their vulnerabilities in a supply chain context, like the direct risks affecting their operations, the overall risks caused by the supply chain network linkages that will aid supply chain managers.
