Abstract
Landslide that occurred on the roadside and highways has caused a severe traffic disruption and properties damage and also loss of life. Therefore, landslide assessment should be carried out through the analysis of spatial and temporal. The purpose of this study is to produce a landslide hazard mapping along East-West Highway using frequency ratio and statistical index methods. The essential spatial data such as geology, rainfall, slope angle, soil texture, stream, profile curvature, plan curvature, NDVI, fault line, elevation, age of rock and slope aspect were used in producing of landslide hazard map. The comparisons for these two methods were verified using sensitivity analysis. The results obtained from this study showed that frequency ratio have a higher accuracy rather than statistical index and can be used as a simple tool in landslide assessment of landslide hazard mapping. Lithology and profile curvature are the most dominant factor in influencing of landslide. In addition, this study also discussed of temporal analysis of landslide in study area. Rainfall data that triggered of landslide have been used to determine rainfall thresholds using daily rainfall data from Station Kuala Kenderong and Sation Kg. Jeli. The regression equation for rainfall triggered landslides in the study area is Ri= 3.8503D0.4753 for Stesen Kuala Kenderong and Ri = 40.49D0.36787 for Station Kg. Jeli where Ri is the intensity of rain (mm / day), while D is the period in the number rainfall in days.
