The primary objective of this thesis is to determine the within culm variation of physical, chemical, anatomical, andmechanical properties of microwave trated G. scortechinii bamboo strips. The adhesion related properties namely surface roughness, wettability, and adhesive penetration were investigated prior to the assessment of adhesive bonding performance of microwave treated glued-laminated bamboo. The physical, chemical, and anatomical properties of untreated and microwave treated strips showed significant variation. Studies on the chemical and anatomical characteristics provide some insight regarding structural and chemical changes induced by microwave treatment. Additionally, its relation towards detrimental or incremental effect on other properties can be partly understood.en_US
