It has been said by Graeme Shankland that " a town without old buildings is like a man without a memory". Through these buildings, one. could remember or recall the magnificence of the town. If the buildings are not properly maintained, then it is a great loss to the society. This is due to the fact that the explicity and implicity of such heritage should be hightlighted. Conservation of old buildings may perpertualy preserve the town's identity and furthermore sustain the physical environment of the town. Based on this research, it is proven that conservation of old buildings are.crucial as it is one of the factors that forms the image of the town. Conservation also relates with place. time and activity of the communities. This means that conservation does not only consists of the physical but also the socio-cultural aspects of the society;. For example, cultural aspect must be considered in designing urban spaces and structures. Thus. it reflects the real image of the town. Therefore, in the real concept of conservation, both aspects must be maintained and protected as they are a part of cultural heritage, particularly for the future generation.en_US
