Career plateau is defined as the point in one’s career at which the likelihood of additional hierarchical promotion is very low or impossible (Ongori & Agolla, 2009). Similar to other countries, women in Malaysia also tied to many other commitment, at the same time, they are also looking forward for career advancement. At work place women are more exposed to career plateau either through job content plateau or hierarchical plateau. Therefore, this research is designed to examine the antecedents and outcomes of career plateau among women executives at manufacturing industry. Grounded in Social Cognitive Career Theory (Lent et al., 1994) and Goal Setting Theory (Locke & Latham, 2004), this study examines the antecedents and outcomes of career plateau (hierarchical plateau and job content plateau) among women managers at Malaysia manufacturing industry. To test the proposed hypotheses, data were collected through self-administered questionnaires. The study sample consisted of 247 women managers at Malaysia manufacturing industry. The hypotheses were analysed using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) approach. Based on the findings, there are eight hypothesis are supported. This study found interesting results related to career plateau. The finding indicated that job content plateau was found to positively related to career satisfaction. And interestingly, both career plateau (hierarchical plateau and job content plateau) were found to positively related to psychological safety. Later, both the theoretical and practical implications of the study are discussed. The suggestion for the future research is also offered.en_US
