In this scenario of economic downturn, there are always troubles occurring in various industries in Malaysia, especially in construction industry. Most of the development projects especially housing projects, abandoned and finally cannot be developed. Several types of efforts taken by the government to determine the exact cause of the project failures. The failures of the projects is believed to have relations \Vith the management of the main construction resources that is materials, manpower and plants. The main aim of this research is to identify and analyse the implications of the materials management in housing development project delays. In order to obtain this informations, questionnaires are done on 25 contruction firm which comes from 5 main class of Pusat Khidmat Kontraktor (PKKContractors Service Centre). SPSS software were used to analyse statistically the information gathered from the questionnaires. The results were presented in frequency table and histograms. From the analysed data, this research has proven that the materials management factor and the related activities have strong influence in determining the housing projects success or failures. It seems that contractor from small PKK classes like class C and D are more aware of the factors of materials management compare to the bigger contractor classes like A, B and BX. It is because of the profit margins of small contractors are less and this factor makes them more aware of materials cost which can go up to fifty percent of the contract sum.en_US
