| dc.description.abstract | Islam is a Universal religion by most of the people in the world including ;ia. Eventhough Malaysia is a multiracial country consisting of Malay, and Chinese, yet Islam is considered as a National Religion compared ~r religions. In fact it cannot be denied that through its uniqueness, it has ed other races besides Malay to become Muslim. When this occurs, these new Muslims are known as "Saudara Baru" bviously have to undergo various changes in order to adapt themselves ir new environment. In this process of changing there are problems which need attentions and cooperations from other Muslims. So this research/ study is about how to identify these problems faced ~ new Muslims and what solutions can be taken to overcome these ms. There are many organisations formed by the Government or private s in helping to deal with these problems. But this study only focuses on les or parts played by an organisation known as "PERKIM" (Pertubuhan kan Islam Malaysia). Questionaires and interviews have been conducted to these new ns who attended various classes and seminars held by. PERKIM in order their views and opinions concerning the problems they 'faced. From their answers, it is obvious that most of the people in Malaysia ยท till confused in distinguishing between religion, culture and customs, ially between Islamic religion and Malay culture. Most of them looked Malay culture and customs as Islamic Religion. This wrong perception is It to erase and so through this study, it is hoped thar Malaysia society look upon these new Muslims problem more seriously. | en_US |
