dc.description.abstract | Workplace deviance remains an important issue in organizational behaviour research due to its increasing prevalence and the impact on both employees and organization. Due to the paucity of empirical research, especially within Asian countries, the aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between personality (openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, neuroticism), national culture (power distance, individualism vs. collectivism, masculinity vs. femininity, uncertainty avoidance, long- vs. short-term orientation, indulgence vs. restraint), and organizational climate with workplace deviance (destructive deviance, constructive deviance). This study also identified the impact of workplace deviance on job performance. Data were obtained from 200 respondents through a structured questionnaire from manufacturing companies in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The findings highlighted that openness to experience and extraversion were positively related to constructive deviance, and the rest of the personality variables has no significant relationship with workplace deviance. Furthermore, the result revealed that uncertainty avoidance was negatively related to destructive deviance, and the rest of the national culture variables do not show any significant relationship with workplace deviance. Organizational climate did not relate to destructive deviance but it affected constructive deviance. This study also provided evidence to support the impact of constructive deviance on job performance. Based on the study's findings, limitations, theoretical and practical implications, and recommendation for further studies were provided. | en_US |
