Abstract
Kajian ini dijalankan bagi mengetahui keupayaan minyak tumbuhan menggantikan minyak ikan di dalam diet Pangasionodon hypophthalmus (Sauvage, 1878) dan Pangasius nasutus (Bleeker, 1863) terhadap prestasi tumbesaran, penggunaan nutrisi, indeks badan dan kandungan asid lemak di dalam isi dan hati. Kesan penggantian minyak ikan dengan minyak kelapa sawit di dalam diet juvenil P. hypophthalmus (Sauvage, 1878) ke atas aktiviti enzim lipogenik juga diselidik. Dalam eksperimen yang pertama, empat diet eksperimen yang mengandungi isonitrogenus (300 g kg-1 protein kasar) dan isoenergetik (21 kJ g-1) diformula dan mengandungi minyak ikan (FO), minyak kacang soya (SBO), minyak kelapa sawit (CPO) dan minyak linseed (LO), dimana satu minyak dicampurkan ke dalam satu diet sebanyak 120 g kg-1 dan berperanan sebagai sumber lemak dan kemudiannya diberikan kepada 15 ekor dalam satu kumpulan juvenil P. hypophthalmus (Sauvage, 1878) (dalam tiga replikat) dengan berat purata 10.00 ± 0.70 g dan 10 ekor per kumpulan dalam tiga replikat juvenil P. nasutus (Bleeker, 1863) (berat purata 10.66 ± 0.04 g) diberi makan sehingga kenyang yang jelas dua kali sehari selama 12 minggu. The study was conducted to determine the possibility of plant oils to substitute fish oil in the diets for Pangasionodon hypophthalmus (Sauvage, 1878) and Pangasius nasutus (Bleeker, 1863) on growth performance, nutrient utilization, body indices and muscle and liver fatty acid composition. The effect of fish oil substitution by crude palm oil in the diets for P. hypophthalmus (Sauvage, 1878) juvenile on lipogenic enzyme activities was also investigated. In the first experiment, four isonitrogenous (300 g kg-1 crude protein), isoenergetic (21 kJ g-1) experimental diets were formulated to contain fish oil (FO), soybean oil (SBO), crude palm oil (CPO) and linseed oil (LO), respectively, as lipid sources each at inclusion level of 120 g kg-1 and fed to triplicate groups of 15 juvenile iridescent shark, P. hypophthalmus (Sauvage, 1878) (mean weight 10.00 ± 0.70 g) and triplicate groups of 10 juvenile P. nasutus (Bleeker, 1863) (mean weight 10.66 ± 0.04 g) to apparent satiation twice daily for 12 weeks.
