Abstract
Cancer is a disease characterized by disordered cell growth. The female breast houses the mammary glands which are specialized to secrete milk following pregnancy. Female breast cancer is one of the leading causes of female mortality worldwide. In Malaysia, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women. Of these, the Chinese had the most number of breast cancer cases, followed by the Indians and the Malays. The most common type of breast cancer is infiltrating ductal carcinoma (IDC). In this study, a proteomics approach was used in the analysis of proteins from human breast tissues.
