dc.description.abstractSince the criticisms of single-use traditional zoning, mixed use development concept has emerged as a key theme in all kinds of planning and development nowadays. The concept of mixed use development is proven to be enhancing urban vitality in olden American cities. Since then, mixed use forms an integral premise of the paradigms of sustainable development as an urban development process in creating a user-friendly and environmental-friendly environment. Therefore, this research is a study in exploring the relationship between mixed use development and urban development. Mixed use development is defined as an integrated uses in a development as a means of enable movement of people in getting to their daily activities and basic needs. Whereas, urban development as a means of providing a better quality of life to the community and fulfill their needs as well as raising their income. Surveys on users have been carried out on mixed use development area to study the achievement of the area and its roles as a mixed used area in affecting the urban development process. As a conclusion, mixed use development is an alternative tool in developing an urban area. However, the results of this research show that the condition of mixed use development in the study area needs an integration of residential as the supportive land use to improve the area.en_US
