Chronic kidney disease (CKD) remains a global issue due to its increasing prevalence, high treatment cost, low treatment rate, and poor outcomes associated with the complexity of its treatment. This study evaluated the clinical and economic impacts of clinical pharmacy education (CPE) on infection management among patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in Haji Adam Malik (HAM) Hospital, Indonesia. A quasi-experimental economic evaluation comparing CPE impact on six-month CKD drug-related problems (DRPs), hospital length of stay (LOS), and mortality was conducted based on the payer perspective. The experimental group (n=63) received care by health care providers that were given CPE on DRPs and dose adjustment. The control group (n=80) was based on the historical cohort of patients that received care before the CPE. Measures of clinical outcome applied in this study was reduction in occurrence of DRPs, LOS, and death as well as increase number of lives saved /100 patients treated. Age of the patients in control and experimental groups were 47.08±13.80 and 49.44±13.09 years, respectively.en_US
