Abstract
eHealth system is deemed as potential ways to improve the healthcare services. Personal Health Record (PHR) is one of the eHealth system that improves individual accessibility to personal health information by storing data input by individuals. The failure to sustain PHR systems in Malaysia despite of the high widespread of internet coverage have prompted the current investigation on user behaviour and determinants related to PHR usage. The current study proposed a Modified Technology Acceptance Model with the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology model (UTAUT) as basis model. Relationship between determinants on behavioral intention, mediating effect of attitude variable and impact of moderating variables were researched in this study. A cross-sectional survey was carried out by sending online questionnaire to Malaysian internet users. This study used multivariate statistical analysis with Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) employing Partial Least Square (PLS) approach in data analysis. Overall, respondents have positive behavioral intention towards PHR. Only subjective norm significantly effects both intention to use and attitude towards PHR; whereas, perceived usefulness and trust directly impact attitude only. Compatibility and perceived ease of use showed they showed positive impact on perceived usefulness. Attitude exerts mediating impact on relationship between perceived usefulness, subjective norm and trusts on intention to use. None of the moderating variables shown significant impact. The Modified TAM tested exhibits strong explanatory power in assessing eHealth acceptance, in particulary in Malaysia setting. eHealth or PHR vendors may focus on determinants towards eHealth acceptance in developing and marketing of PHR. Besides, future research may address the limitations of this study to ensure the greater generalizability of this study.
