dc.description.abstractUED-SP MFIs is the local state-owned microfinance institution that was launched by the government of Riau Province since 2005 as a response to the poverty issue in the rural areas. The objective of the study is to assess the financialsustainability, outreach and impact of the UED-SP MFIs on the borrowers’ welfare. The case study was conducted in Rokan Hulu regency, Riau province, Indonesia.The study found that the UED-SP MFIsachieved financial sustainability, whereby they could compensate for all of their operational costs from their income. The UED-SP MFIs in both the developed and developing villages were more financially sustainable compared to the UED-SP MFIs in the under-developed villages.en_US
